Martin Meyer speaks on the relationship between age-related hearing loss and neurodegenerative diseases at the 17th EFAS Congress in Vienna
Martin Meyer presents a talk titled: "On the relationship between age-related hearing loss and neurodegenerative diseases" at the 17th Congress of European Federation of Audiology Societies, 14-17 May 2025, Palais Niederösterreich, Vienna.
Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) is a common burden during old age that seriously affects language and communication. Recently presbycusis during mid-age has even been published as a major risk factor for later a dementia diagnosis. The talk will address the question whether there is a direct or an indirect relationship between presbycusis and dementia and how strong it is supposed to be.
