Im Dschungel der Sprachen
UZH magazine wrote a feature article about John Mansfield's fieldwork in Papua New Guinea. This describes his recent field trips on which has has developed documentation of the previously undocumented language Mum, spoken by an unknown number of people living in an area of rainforest around Josephstaal, without any road access of infrastructure. The fieldwork has also supported a collaboration on the NCCR Storytelling task, with PhD student Sara Flick. Flick and Mansfield are developing a set of video recordings of storytelling in the Mum language, capturing a vibrant and engaging narrative tradition.
