Processing dependency marking and semantic roles in sentence production and comprehension

Both planning and comprehending sentences are incremental processes: Comprehenders immediately integrate incoming words and constituents into the representations that they built and speakers plan sentences in pieces (rather than as a whole). I will present a collection of recent EEG and eye tracking studies that explore how cross-linguistic variation in case marking and word order and constituent structure shapes the neural and behavioral underpinnings of incremental sentence processing.
