New paper by Borja Herce on the boundary between languages and dialects in Language Dynamics and Change.

The paper, entitled 'The language vs. dialect distinction again: Replication and explanation' ponders some recent papers that found that linguistic distances are bimodal, and fails to replicate this finding, arguing instead that linguistic distance distributions are family-specific and driven by phylogeny.
