Research Assistant Position (20-40%)

The Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of Language Evolution at the University of Zurich is seeking a Research Assistant to support Professor John Mansfield, starting in October 2025.

 This position is temporary, until the end of July 2026, with a possibility of extension. 

Tasks:

• Linguistic data processing and collection, involving a mixture of digital data sources and traditional documentation
• May involve computational or statistical processing, depending on the candidate’s skills

 Qualifications:

• Has taken courses in linguistics, preferably to completion of Bachelor level
• An interest in linguistic diversity and language research
• Data processing or coding skills will also be beneficial, but not essential

Hours:

1-2 days a week, with flexible working hours
