Celtic Studies Group

The Celtic Studies group is currently exploring adjunct subordination in Old and Middle Irish from various perspectives. We established a database with almost 10’000 tokens from various text genres. We are working with simple statistics, but mostly with qualitative methods. Areas of interest are the distribution of finite and nominal subordinate clauses, the functions of the various conjunctions and prepositions introducing these clauses as well as the influence of coreferential arguments in matrix and subordinate clauses.
