NCCRWomen campaign: Nicole Tamer and Jessie Adriaense from the UZH presented their research work

NCCRWomen

We are proud of our collaborators Nicole Tamer and Jessie Adriaense, who represented the UZH at the NCCRWomen campaign. Launched by all the National Centres of Competence in Research (NCCRs), this campaign highlights the importance of women in the Swiss research landscape

Our first #NCCRWomen is Nicole Tamer, linguist at the Department of Comparative Language Science. She is exploring the evolutionary origins of language. "I would have never thought that I would work in science because I was lacking female role models when I was younger"

The second #NCCRWomen of the NCCR Evolving Language is Jessie Adriaense, comparative psychologist at the Department of Anthropology. She studies different species to understand the evolutionary origins of specific animal and human behaviors, such as empathy and cooperation. "I would say one main challenge in animalresearch is that you cannot ask animals, so we really need to find non-invasive methods that measure as closely as possible an animal’s mind."
